Teenage Parent Project

One of the first programs established by Read for Life in 1989, our teenage parent project is a cornerstone of our work. Throughout the year our volunteers go to teen parent programs all over Tulare County to teach new parents about the importance of reading to their babies.

We explain how exposure to reading, singing, and talking prepares
children to read and succeed in school. After sharing tips on
choosing and enjoying books with babies, parents select a new
book from Read for Life.

Financial support for this project comes from Reading Is Fundamental and donations from individuals and organizations.
